100 Thank You!

It’s the 100th post! So many good memories! Here’s a selection of some of my favourite Spiralling pictures!

Name: SPIN

Location: BRISTOL

Me at The Spiralling Exhibition 001 in Oct 2015

I can’t believe that I’m sitting down to write the 100th Spiralling post! When I first came up with the idea to do this there is no way that I would’ve expected myself to have had the dedication and commitment to keep it up! I’ve missed the odd Monday here and there, but I’m still trying to juggle this project around my other 4 jobs! haha!

I didn’t really know how I wanted to mark this momentous milestone but I’ve decided to use this as a space to mention some people who’ve helped me out along the way. I may be the person who writes the features, but this project has been a combined effort and I’d like to thanks some of those people now.

This is the screen I stare at every week! This was when I was on a night shift and I had a little writing buddy!

Relationships –  Troy and Alex were and are the two people who I’ve had relationships with during the time that The Spiralling has been a part of my life. Both of these men have been incredibly supportive of me, and very understanding of the fact that I will usually be frantically writing into the wee hours on a Sunday evening! They have both worn the hat of ‘Official Spiralling Proof Reader’ (along with a couple of other night-owl friends!) and have helped me spot many a mistake! I’d like to give both of these people a huge hug and a big massive thank you!

Jane & Amanda – Wow these women are MEGA! Jane I met at an art exhibition and she immediately took an interest in the project and asked who was mentoring me, I said no one, so she offered to help. This came in the form of letting me offload a lot of thoughts and helping me realise some home truths along the way, as well as sharing a lot of laughs! After I did the Prince’s Trust Enterprise Course I was lucky to land Amanda as my mentor! She would listened to me waffle once a week about all the things that I wanted to do with The Spiralling, and would often keep me in check and remind me to just focus on one thing at a time. Without the support of these two I’m not sure that The Spiralling would’ve survived as long as it has.

Paddy & Mat – There have been a couple of times that I’ve got a bit baffled by WordPress and have had to call on a couple of clever techie troops to help me out. Both of these two have helped me massively with the website. It’s still a work in progress and I’m looking forward to watching it evolve even further over the course of this year.

– I’ve never really had a lot of money, and this guy has done so much for me for free that I feel he deserves a special mention. I wouldn’t have business stickers or a logo if it weren’t for this dude! One day when I’m rich and famous I’ll be able to pay him back properly (but he’s not going to need it as he’s just become a member of  The Toy Chronicle family!)

My amazing network of friends – I’ve had so many different people help me out from amazing poster designs by Alex M Peck, t-shirts printed by Peter Ray at Images Plus in Cheltenham, Rob at Roll for the Soul who’s provided a wonderful venue for the Jazz Dinners, the musical masters in The Spiralling Sounds Jazz Band, everyone who’s helped me out at The Spiralling Swap Shops, all the exhibitors both in the last, and the upcoming Spiralling Exhibition and Pippa Hambling and others for coming to take photos for me. Thank you basically to anyone who’s helped or been involved with all the different stages of The Spiralling!

Everyone I’ve written about – There would be no Spiralling at all without all the incredibly talented people who I’ve had the pleasure of either knowing, or meeting through the project. My features might not make a massive impact, but even if they bring a little extra exposure to these creatives, then I feel that it’s worth my time. Every art form or skill takes so much time to hone and master, and in today’s connected world, promotion has become quite tricky for those not willing to pay for Facebook adverts, or spend a lot of timing on social media. This leads me on to…

Everyone who’s shared my posts and kept the spiral going – I’m just one person and my voice can only go so far. It’s thanks to all of you for reading, commenting, sharing, entering conceptions, liking, reposting, etc. that The Spiralling has spread. The map below shows just quite how far they’ve spread! I hope to continue this project for many more years to come, and I hope that you will continue to read and enjoy discovering new inspirational people from all over the world. Screenshot 2017-02-13 at 21.19.32
